chilli pan mee @ ss15

today was simple. went for a hike in bukit saga cheras today. had a mini picnic there. a picture for your viewing pleasure. it was a good hike. even stepped out of my comfort zone. i actually played with the water at the waterfall. usually im quite ocd when it comes to these things. like i didn't bring a set of clothes and all so i definitely surprised myself today. was a good hike. hit chilli pan mee for lunch after.

i had my usual dumplings. but i ordered the large one. the small one comes in 4 pieces whilst the large came in 8. had some of daryls' pork chop noodles as well. this is one of my fav places for dumplings. the filling is just the right texture and taste. texture wise, the chestnuts gives it the oomph it needs. and the filling is not bland. though the dumpling skin could be slightly thinner, but this can do. i approve.

in blackball having dessert now. have some stuffs to get done. see yas.

sushi tei @ midvalley/gardens

today for me was such a foodie day. i woke up with chocolate cravings like no tomorrow. i had all things chocolate. chocolate chip cookies. ferrero rocher. chocolate coated nuts. milo. and i had my normal toast too. i had way too much and was super stuffed. so i skipped lunch. just cuz i really could not fit anything in my tummy.

but i compensated with 2 dinners. my grandmother was super semangat-ed to cook dinner tonight, and though i had dinner plans with lynn, i decided to have my dinner at home first. she steamed fish, made deepfried pork, and vege with prawns, oh and white fungus soup.

okay on, to sushi tei. since i was already half full, i didn't order much. i ordered the unagi with egg and arrow roots, served on a hot plate. my default order when i come to sushi tei. if you don't know wad im talking about, look at the pic below. i thought the portion was a little small though. there was a mere 4 small pieces of unagi. for 20 bucks, i expected more.

lynn ordered a salad to share. and i realized i really liked the seaweed topping so i ordered an additional bowl of wakame seaweed. super yummy. i haven't had these since london. in london, i used to go to this shop called tombo just for their seaweed. if you have not had these, trust me, it will make your world go round. i whacked the seaweed in minutes after it was served.

nutmeg @ bangsar village 2

today was such a heavy day for me. despite having breakfast at the loaf, i could not pass at the suggestion of trying out nutmeg. i've been seeing pictures, hearing raves and reading reviews of this yet another breakfast place. so together with yen, we hit nutmeg.

the decoir of the place is pretty cool. pretty flowers on the table. and i loved the quotes they had around the place. for instance 'eat whatever you want and if someone lectures you, eat them too.

i've heard about the amazing different french toasts, the yummy lamb sausages that comes with the english breakfast, the eggs benedict, so i was going back and forth on what to order. so ultimately i settled with the english big breakfast. as for drinks i could not decide what to order so the waiter brought, something to surprise me. i just said hot or cold. yen ordered the cafe latte, whereas my drink surprise was the orange elderflower fizz. the drink was refreshing. yen said the cafe latte was very milky, so i guess if one prefers the milkier version of cafe latte, than this would be the thing to go for. both drinks were priced at 8 bucks.

my english big breakfast came with 2 homemade brioche toasts which were super airy and soft but not really my thing. i would have preferred a crisped up toast. the lamb sausage was good and pack filled with herbs and spices. i absolutely loved the garlic roasted cherry tomatoes. for each and every tomato, they stuffed a garlic in its core so that the garlic taste would penetrate the entire tomato. perfection. as for the potatoes, they were meant to be hashbrowns but they turned out to be more like roasted potatoes. but i liked them. the outer layer slightly crisp and inside soft. you had a choice between the hashbrowns and deep fried mac and cheese. you also had a choice between salted beef or home made/home cured smoked salmon. i settled for the latter. and it was really good. different from the packaged ones i used to buy in uk, but good nonetheless. as for the eggs, i chose poached eggs, with hollandaise sauce. oh yes and the mushrooms, soaked in olive oil. 28 bucks, a little pricey but i would say the food is good.

yen had the southen breakfast which came with scones, fried chicken, scrambled eggs, potatoes and a side salad. the fried chicken i thought was good. the scrambled eggs are creamy and nice. well i liked it. but towards the end it might get a little too creamy. 26 bucks for the southern breakky.

i'm an absolute huge fan of english breakfasts. going to try all of them and see which one i like best. we were pretty full after lunch. then again, i went to the loaf to have breakfast not too long before lunch haha so we had no space for dessert. but their array of desserts sounded super interesting. there was an orange flourless cake which i would want to try, the milo dinosaur cake, the omg chocolate cake that yen was eye-ing, saving all these for the next time.
