wild honey @ scotts square singapore

having read of this place from ladyironchef, we picked this as our brunch place. so there are 2 outlets, one in mandarin gallery and another in scotts square. according to b, a friend of mine, the outlet in scotts sq does reservations. but me n yen, just walked in. we didn't mind a bar table because we were starving. and goodie, because yen was obsessed with dining with katy perry, ahem.

yen ordered a chocolate mocha drink whereas i ordered a citrus fruit juice to kickstart my eatin fro the day. i settled for the norwegian, whereas yen ordered st michaels or something-named-like-that. i was contemplating between eggs atlantic-my usual, but settled on the norwegian. basically mine was cooked salmon, on a bed of potato rosti, with asparagus, cherry tomatoes, topped with some sauce. yen's was prosciutto, a fried poached egg, cheese souffle on french toast, and cherry tomatoes.
the cherry tomatoes were super juicy. i love them more because they were on the vine. asparagus were perfection. much better than the ones in mr and ms cafe in malaysia. i am not a fan of corriander so i felt the dish could do without it and cracked black pepper would have served as a better garnish. the salmon was well cooked. the downside of the dish was the potato rosti. it wasn't really rosti. it was shredded potato. deepfried. it was super oily, too oily for my liking. although i did finish most of it, it was because i was super hungry. and to tell that it was really bad when i'm super hungry, means it must have been real bad. 26 sgd for the dish.
y
yen had these. brioche french toast if my knowledge of bread is accurate. she liked her dish. and the fried egg, was really impressive. it was poached and fried, yet, the yolk was still perfect. neither undercook, nor overcook. i liked the cheese souffle, but yen didn't like it. so i helped her whack it. she said she didn't taste the cheese flavour, but i found it mild yet not overpowering, allowing me to finish that in addition to my own plate of brunch. she loved her dish except ther cheese souffle. she is not one of a big eater, so she didn't finish her prosciutto, but i think it wasn't because of its lack of flavour, but just that she does not eat much. 26 sgd as well.
meet my brunch date for they day. yen. although she will say her date was katy perry and not mel.

all in all, i thought it was pretty pricey for brunch. then again, i'm converting it back to myr. but maybe for sgd its pretty normal? i don't know. because antipodean here is also 20 something, so dollar for dollar it might be normal for singaporeans. i guess the next time i'm in town, i'd very much rather try other brunch places.

i must say, in addition to their menu, they had pastries, which i was really tempted to order. maybe next time for the pastries?
