fat boys burger bar @ one city mall

i had a great experience the first time so when it came to buying daryl and the angster dinner, i chose this place. i had to buy them because they helped me majorly in my redesigning my room. it was such a fat day for myself. i wanted to rewardd myself fro my 15km run, but i think i overly rewarded myself.

this time around, there was more staff and more customers. the guy taking our order was downright rude. daryl ordered the wimpy and he went like 'the wimpy what. what.' when i stared at him all confused he went 'pork? beef? what? what?'. i think they need to have more decent service. this was real bad. i hate to focus on service, because a foodie focuses on food, but there were just too many rude incidents that ruined my dining experience.

the angster ordered the royale burger which was a beef patty, with onion marmalade, topped with cheddar and beef bacon. he said what the burger lacked in crisp of the outer layer of patty, the made up with the crisp of the bacon. so it was good. i ordered the portobello burger this time because they ran out of salmon patty. i thought the portobello was so-so only. i preferred kgb's portobello now i think about it. but the onion marmalade is top quality. i recommend adding that to your burger.

this time round, tried the thick chocolate shake, with peanut butter. gosh trust me, one sip and u feel like this is so sinful.

red beanbag @ publika

final run of the year-to wrap up the year-the newton challenge 2013. i would say my timing could have been better. had a stitch whilst running, and my ankle started hurting at the 7km point. the official timings aren't out yet, but hopefully i managed within 1h30 minutes.

anyways, after the run, went for bfast no2-to reward ourselves. i dont know who suggested the redbeanbag, but we quickly agreed upon it. me and ka have been hearing much about this place, we just nodded in agreement upon the mention of the name. we got seated in a pretty neat area-cosy and nice to just chill out.

their menu is named-the dark side or the light side. obviously went for the dark side. light, well was too light. we felt like we deserved a good meal. though i was quite tempted to order the orange yoghurt with muesli oats thingy on the light side of the menu.

ka settled for a freshly brewed tea with peach puree and passionfruit. whilst i went for something more sinful-iced chocolate. ka's drink was refreshing. whilst mine was a thick iced chocolate. look at the amount of chocolate. hany on the other hand went for a cocktail-a watermelonh lychee kinda cocktail-which they said-the hills was better.
as for the food, i had the atlantic, which is basically eggs bennedict but with smoked salmon instead of bacon. this came with a frenchtoast instead of a toast. i personlly liked the edges of the french toast. and i liked that there were mushrooms. it was good but personally i preferred antipodean. antipodeans wholegrain bread sucks up the yolk better. ka had the same thing as i did. joyce ordered the one below. a poached egg, with chorizos on a wholegrain toast. the toast looked pretty yummy. hany ordered the grilled salmon on potato rosti with a poached egg seated on top. that looked bloody amazing. definitely on my to try list the next time i visit. tianyi had the classic eggs benedict whereas chin had joe's burger.

look at those runny egg yolks. oozing out.

fresco @ empire subang

located inside jaya grocer in empire, is this little gemstone called el cerdo. i absolutely love this restaurant. so, had my christmas dinner here.

incidentally, i got my number for my table. yes my number is 28=]
ordered a lemon lime bitter. felt like having something ahh, and though this fit the ahh i was looking for.
for the starter had this wild mushoom soup. was okay, of standard but i guess i really liked the main so much that this just faded in the background.
i had a 300g salmon with roasted potatoes, cauliflowers, carrots and brocolli. the fish was cooked to perfection. pink in the middle, each piece flaking. this is the best place for salmon in malaysia, consistently cooking their salmon to perfection. i've tried plentiful of places-delicious, tgi, they tend to always overcook their salmon, which bothers me alot. such a good fish gone to waste. the skin was crisped to perfection. so good. too good.
angster had pasta with beefbacon. i tried the pasta, but i preferred wondermilks tomato base. this one is alot stronger in tomato flavour. he said it was okay though. but he has his eyes set on the tenderloin the next time we visit this place, which will very likely be tonight.

this place, i highly recommend. one of the best out there.

wondermilk @citta mall

i'm so into wondermilk, but i'm different. i'm into the food not the cupcakes. well i tried the 12 bucks chocolate cake and it was real bad so i decided to stay away from the sweets and stick to the savouries.

this time round, decided to try the flavoured milk. i went for butterscotch. the flavour is pretty mild and you get the aftertaste of the butterscotch lingering on your taste buds after a second or 2. its not bad but a little too small.
my favourite sandwich so far. the cheesy mushroom melt sandwich with potato salad. i guess i like o briens too, i mean they are both overpriced sandwiches but this i relaly love the flavour of the mushrooms and the toasted bread and the cheese. this is just magnificent-0.
oh and the pasta-pesto pasta was too good. its basically pasta with all the roasted veges like peppers. i loved this dish. they used plentiful of oilve oil. i loved the pasta, i loved the taste i loved the roasted vege. i'm not so much a big fan of pasta, but the 2 that i've liked so far is definitely aglio olio from upstairs cafe and this. really really good.
the angster told me a few days ago, if you continue eating like this, i'm not sure how you're going to look like in a few weeks haha.

this place is really worth a visit. its really that good. click for my previous visit to wondermilk.

beyond veggie @ taipan

i like vegetarian food , well i like vege in general, and i'm not so a fan of very meaty food, so i guess i could say i quite like vegetarian food. so i mean, i had to try this place, beyond veggie by secret recipe. i've heard mixed reviews about this place. yen's parents hate this place, some friends think its okay, and some likes the concept of the place. well i mean i liked the concept-the supposedly vegetarian cakes (without eggs) and food-but then again there were mostly cheesecakes which does not usually have eggs in them anyways.

so this dish is called golden mushrooms-the sauce was really good i must say. it was very rich and flavourful but the mushrooms were a disappointment. a major disappointment i must say.they coat the mushroom with flour but with too much flour.as u can see, in the picture, the mushtoom is round,, and mushrooms aren't round in general. that's how much excess flour there was. however, i liked the use of curry leaves and cili padis in the sauce. i even accidentally bit into the cilipadi and immediately felt my throat burn up.

i also ordered this specialty dish of theirs which is pumpkin tofu with yam. so its basically like pork with yam slices, in chinese they call it kou rou but in place of the pork is the pumpkin tofu. because i finished this whole dish by myself, i was super stuffed with the yam. the pumpkin tofu was really good and special. i liked both taste and texture. but i must say its a pretty pricey dish. 24 bucks for a few pieces of tofu and yam.even the pork version is not as exp as this.

i also ordered a plate of mee sua to eat with the sauce. they flavoured the mee sua with olive oil. so you could literally slurp down the noodles just like that.
to finish the meal off, had this ricotta cheesecake. i didn't like the tiop layer of the cream, but the cheese for perfection. every bite was heaven. i'd go back for this cake, any day.

i would say food is okay not too bad. its normal restaurant food, like manhatten or secret recipe itself. nothing to wow, except the cake.

organic vegetarian restaurant @ ss18

the angster was not feeling well, hence we wanted to go somewhere light and healthy for lunch. i chose this vegetarian shop because the angster wanted something vege or fruity or porridge. i wasn't too keen on teocheow porridge so, here we were.

the angster ordered a bowl of braised bittergourd noodle soup. he chose mee hoon. indeed they vege helping was very generous, so were the noodles but i thought that the soup was heavily flavoured with sesame oil, and too oily for my liking. a supposed light meal, turned into a heavy meal.

i, have myself to blame for not having a light meal. i ordered curry noodles. wad-a-joke right, coming from someone who wanted to have something not too heavy. i chose these black noodles, which i was hoping would have the texture of meehoonkuey but unfortunately it did not. but the curry was spicy, in a good way. i also ordered a popiah which i thought wasn't very good.

i wanted to have the zhapfan but i don't know why they ddin't serve that day. it was a monday by the way and i went at about 1130am. tad bit disappointed.

i guess its one of the very few places to have vegetarian in subang area. the other place i know is sunway's simple life which i think is average. i guess its quite difficult to make organic vegetarian stand out. oh wait there's a new vegetarian shop in town, beyond veggie. stay tuned for that.
