kah heong @ ss15

i tell alot of people about this place. if you know me well enough that is. i'm a huge zhap fan (mixed rice) fan. what i like about it, is the array of dishes. i love variety. in college, i can order 3 to 5 dishes, and when the dishes come i will go now what. that is how much i love variety. and kah heong in ss15 has abundance of variety. the food is considerably cheap, (apparently people say mr rice corner which is just opposite kah heong is cheaper but from my experience i think kah heong is cheaper), and food is quite good. you also get free water or tea, and soup, which is refillable.

well i haven't visited kah heong for quite some time. and today me, daryl, junf and dming hit the gym. we had brunch before and lunch after, so i'm not too sure whether it was a gym outing or an eating outing. haha. but decided to hit this place. i like that you can eat alot and not pay an exorbitant price. my must takes are the fried egg with carrots and onions (im an egg lover), the steam minced pork and the pumpkin dish. the vege i like usually cabbage or spinach, ran out because we went about 2pm. today the egg was slightly saltier than usual but the minced pork was top notch, as usual. they serve the food with a choice of white rice or porridge.

if you want cheap food, you eat alot, this really is the place for you.

cheap food can be satisfying. in its own way.

came home to snack on these burdock chips i found at home. someone bought them and i'm going to hunt with all my might, as to where i can find these really yummy crisp. anyone knows?

kwai sang (no2 branch) @ ss15

this weekend has been all about food. usually my lunches and breakfasts are pretty simple, but this weekend, really, it has been an extraordinary food weekend. sunday breakfast, we decided to hit this kopitiam we frequent alot. more of because on saturday we hit this place too and we had this onion cake was really yummy, so we decided to go back for breakfast again.

this onion cake is kind of more like roti canai/pratha, and its only 2 ringgit. if you add an egg in between, it becomes 3 ringgit. its really good. the outside is all crisped up. definitely a ten out of ten for this one. perfecto.

additionally i also ordered the dumplings. however i ordered the soup dumplings which might have been a mistake. maybe because its more of the wo tip kind, so the skin is really thick. so i think having them pan fried would have been better. 5 bucks for 5 pieces. you even get to choose the filling. i ordered this because i was intrigued by the fact you can choose your dumpling filling. you had a choice between minced pork, white cabbage and chives, or spinach and egg, or minced pork and white cabbage. i chose the one with chives, but i still felt that the filling was lacking in terms of volume. both the onion pancake and the dumplings were from the same shop. but i have to say, i will only go back for the onion pancake.

the angster ordered a plate of wantanmee. i found the chasiew not very yummy. i think i still my normal place fro wantanmee is the best but more on that next time. honestly,i find this kopitiam one of my favourites. i love the chinese stall that sells the pancakes, the stall that sells portugese eggtarts, and also the popiah stall. too much good food at an okay price for a place.

village nasi lemak @ damansara uptown

the angster loves nasi lemak from this place. and since we were meeting friends at ttdi artisan roast, we decided to stop by village to have this. i think he has only had this including yesterday, twice in his life. if you've never been here, you'd be shocked at the amount of people que-ing up, if you have you'd know wad im talking about.

for drinks i ordered a limau ais, which i thought was too sweet. angster ordered a cucumber apple juice with sour plum. absolutely loved the combination. though the glass was a lil small. but, 4 bucks for a glass of juice is still worth it. i mean in comarison with my limau ais which was also 4 bucks id go for the juice any day. i dont know wad went wrong with my head for me to go for limau ais.

for this visit, i was feeling adventurous again. lately ive been feeling pretty adventurous in terms of food, ordering stuffs i have not tried before. this times, i settled on lontong. no regrets. im the kind of person who appreciates textures of flour so that is why i liked this dish. basically lontong is like ketupat, drenched in curry sauce with long beans, carrots, white cabbage, and topped with a rich peanut satay kind of sauce. i thought the ketupat could be better in terms of texture, but the sauce, was top notch. if not mistaken this dish is roughly 7 bucks, 6.90 to be more exact.

the nasi lemak, im not going to say much. i mean its famous for its nasi lemak right. the chicken portion is huge, little rice. everything you want to add is charge-able. for instance, add sambal is 80 cents. add rice is another chargeable amount. 8 bucks plus for nasi lemak. more expensive than the ones we see on the roadside, but cheaper than places like madam kwan.

if you've not tried this, i'd recommend this. local food at its best. look how clean we wiped our plates.

dip n dip @ bangsar

having heard so much and seen so many pictures of this place-finally.

we came after burgers im impressed with us. kudos to our stomachs.

i decicded to go for the hot chocolate for my drink. it was okay-i guess i still prefer those kind of really thick chocolate shot kind of hot chocolate. starbucks actually serves really good hot chocolate actually. this was well so-so. not absolutely amazing, but not bad either. i guess i should have ordered something a little more refreshing. because of all the chocolates i was going to consume.

we ordered the dip n dip waffle to share. 40 bucks. they drizzled it in milk chocolate. i personally prefer the dark chocolate crepe we ordered. i thought the banana was really ripe and sweet but it just lacked chocolate. maybe because they only drizzled chocolate so i felt like there was insufficient to coat the fruits and waffles nicely. also, the waffles weren't a wow thing. good waffles need to be crisp on the outside, and fluffy on the inside. but this was very doughy to me. and we should have added ice-cream. i love good ice-cream with waffles.

this is the dip and dip triple chocolate crepe. we asked for dark chocolate as the base and this was super good. i absolutely loved the dark chocolate and there was plenty of chocolate to go around. i even coated the fruits from the waffle platter with the yummy dark chocolate. i guess my next time order will definitely be anything with dark chocolate.

nice place for all the chocolate fans. the crepe is their signature, and is really worth trying.

me and the angster, obviously the angster more than me did feel guilty after our burger and chocolates meal. we did plan to have a good session the next day, but, unfortunately, it wasn't a very productive session for me. so today, is our eat slightly healthier day.

killer gourmet burgers @ bangsar

for some reason, we ended up at kgb for dinner. the initial plan was to have nirwarna then hit dip n dip, but kj mentioned this kgb and we decided to go check out their menu. i think it was more of we were lazy to walk back to nirwarna than being captivated by their menu, but we ended up at kgb. yenny came along, so the angster could not say no to our food choice.

let me introduce the angster. he is an absolute health freak. he says no to anything with fat, he thknks chocolate is a sin, he thinks cakes are something to be abhorred, basically he is the i don't want to get fat kind of person, although he is super skinny. no joke. i kid you not. so its quite difficult when eating with him. so with yenny, we could finally go for 'real food'.

i opted for the vegetarian burger-sunshine bella, which was with portobello mushrooms, garlic aioli, and a sunny side up egg. then all of a sudden, i didn't feel so vegetarian anymore. more of i was craving meat. so i added a grilled chicken patty. the buns were nicely buttered. the portobello mushrooms were very juicy. i was expecting it to come in one whole slice, but, the slicced up mushrooms didn't disappoint. i absolutely loved the sunny side up egg. when the yolk starts oozing out-wowzers. the only downside was the garlic aioli. it wasn't garlic-y enough for me. then again, im quite a huge fan of garlic. i was a tad bit disappointed by its appearance as well because the burger looked really crude, honestly, like ramli. didn't look like something worth paying for.

yenny ordered the chicken burger with onion rings. she liked hers though. the angster didn't like his. but then again, his opinion can hardly be trusted. he saw ho they made the patty. and once he sees anything that can be in any way associated with unhealthy, he automatically classifies it as sucky food.

it was a good burger but its something i would try but not opt to go back for again. i would much rather go to burger hug. one because its nearer to subang, and its better.

upstairs cafe @ ss12

one of my absolute favourite dessert places. this place serves the best brownies around.

today-the red velvet cake. i've tried the red velvet cupcake before, so this did not disappoint as well. the cake was moist. the cream cheese proportion just nice. good red velvet cake for 8 bucks. the cupcake is smaller in size and often you see them sol out at night which is such a pity for those who come all the way for this. i've seen people come and leaving disappointed when they hear 'sold out, sorry'. it's that good.

the seafood aglio olio. priced at 12.90, its one of the cheaper pastas i know around. portion wise, its okay i guess. comes with an array of seafood, and quoting daryl, one of the best he has had. i even sent angster a pic of this, and he is excited to check this place out. m thinking of bringing the angster here this weekend. he was saying we should go on friday, pig out, and work out like shit on saturday.

this is may absolute fav in upstairs cafe. brownies. heavenly brownies. i like how the centre is still gooey fudgy and oh so chocolatey. but gosh the guilt im feeling now. plus today i wasn't feeling well the entire day. i was having a terrible migraine and after my dose of chocolate today, i'm feeling worse now. initially the plan was to rid the guilt tomorrow by working out like shit, but unfortunately, i think my health condition will not permit so. so i'm stuck with the guilt. pay 5.50 and u will not regret this.

comparing the hot chocolote, here's better than coffea, but honestly i think its quite difficult to be worse than coffea coffee. my personal opinion.

the girl is feeling so heavy headed now. i need my beauty sleep.

coffea coffee @ ss15

yen mentioned this place briefly before so we decided to check it out despite just stuffing ourselves with burgers.

they have a range of drinks from smoothies, to mocha ice blends, peanut butter ice blends, tea, and a variety of coffee. yen went for the sumatra roast. im such a peanut butter lover. peabut nutter. im crazy over it. so looking at the menu my obvious choice would be everything peanut butter. i ordered a peanut butter latte, and tried the peanut butter cake as well. i was expecting a full fledged peanut butter cake but it was only a chocolate cake topped with peanut butter icing. the cake itself was grainy and i thought the peanut butter was not strong enough to be worthy of being called a peanut butter cake.

my peanut butter latte. 12 bucks and super not worth the ke-ching. it was more milky than nutty. not something i would try again.

yen's sumatra roast was super strong. super super strong. then again. i'm not a very coffee person, so i can't comment much on it other than it being super strong. for the americano lovers i guess.

daryl also ordered a hot chocolate. but it tasted more like milo honestly. it was bad. there was no rich chocolate taste i was expecting.

this place was a disappointment. but then again, they boast their coffees and teas, and the only thing i can say about the coffee is that it is super strong. not sure if that is a good thing or bad thing?
