cebu-queen of the south

just got back from cebu philippines.

an amazing trip, with great food, and even greater company. it was more of an eating/chillax/casino-visiting trip. but all the eating has given me a severe sore throat. i mean ice cream everyday-sometimes even twice a day, grilled bbq food, brownies 3 times in 5 days, deepfried food everyday, yes that does things to you. and by that, i don't mean just a sore throat. hopefully i'll be healthy enough to workout tomorrow. i need a good workout. after an entire week of slack.

fit-so

it has been said that 7 minutes of exercise a day is what it takes to make everyone happy-go-lucky and a little less stressed.

so remember, just 7 minutes a day. do a short hiit circuit. or some bodyweight workouts. here's one you can try for one of the days.

45 seconds of squat jumps
45 seconds burpees
45 seconds of skaters
45 seconds mountain climbers.

3 rounds, 30 seconds rest in btw each round.

gold chilli @ ss15

gold chilli yo. one of my fav places to dine.

gold chilli is famous for their butter chicken. the other must order is the mongolian chicken. thing is, this is one sinful meal. the angster would not approve. he is into the more refine kind of food. this is too crude for him. so i just, go with other people. so it was the 3 of us. and i might have over-ordered, as usual lah, i always over-order damn.

not a fan of white rice, i ordered a plate of sambal fried rice for myself. the other 2 had a plate of white rice each. the sambal fried rice was downright yumzers. the portion was huge. for 6 bucks, it was super worth wad u were paying for. sambal had its kick, sufficiently spicy and the fishcakes and meat proportion was not overly disproportionate. the portion, i have to emphasize, was huge. it was doouble the amount of a plate pf white rice. sufficient to share for 2 must say.

we ordered a plate of kangkung, and also a plate of mongolian sotong in addition to the butter chicken. mongolian style is the other style gold chilli is quite known for. its the other style considered the 2nd most ordered after butter style. we chose chicken breast boneless for our butter style, and, sotong for mongolian style.

it is really really good. but really really sinful at the same time. the sauce is really rich. you really feel like they use a whole block of butter and a whole packet of buttermilk. thats y people order white rice. to mix the sauce with the rice, to finish up the sauce. to soak up the sauce.

i'm going to phillipines in a few days for my next food-venture. i already have my research done and a whole long list of foods to eat. i'm going to come back a few pounds heavier but for the fact i intentionally chose a hotel with a gym and a pool. morning exercise is going to be a norm for me over there. sometimes, i think im healthier when i travel. i tend to make sure i have my daily dose of exercise, to allow me to eat more whilst abroad. stay tuned guys. there's going to be brownie cups-the best brownies in town apparently.

artisan roast @ bangsar village

so my cheesecake quest so far, has had its ups and downs. thsi was definitely an up. so far, the best cheesecake i've had. loved the soft texture, the crumbly digestive base. i thought it was amazing. the dark chocolate cake however, not so. it was too dry for me.

this nw tops my best cheesecake list.

really short post. because there are really no words to describe the greatness of this cheesecake.

i kid u not.

sciccors cut rice @ jalan besar singapore

so, after ramen, after dessert, we were still very gungho. well to be fair, yen didn't have dinner nor dessert. i was the only one who whacked my ramen, and still went for dessert, and still decided we should all go fr supper. bobo fared well too. she almost finished her ramen. she had dessert. and she was up for supper. hehe. she really made a good foodie partner.

anyways, we tried out this place, which is called sciccors cut rice. basically eveything was cut using sciccors, hence the name. we ordered chicken wings, curried, some pork stew, some deepfried pork cutlet, stew cabbage, and a plate of rice drencehd in curry sauce mixed with lobak sauce. the mixture of sauces made the rice sticky. apparently its a hainanese dish but i was like i'm hainanese and my grandmother hasn't cooked that before. haha.

anyways, this supper, was so worth it. my favourite out of the bunch was the stewed cabbage. the sauce which was the same as on the rice, just blended with the cabbage so well. just for the plate of cabbage, i'd come back. so sinful, yet so good. b was saying that she wanted to gym the next day, but she ended up waking up at 11. she even missed our brunch the next day haha.

maybe next time, not fur supper, but lunch or dinner instead. i'm not young anymore. can't be having suppers like this for much longer with my slowing metabolism rate.

anyways, meet b. on the left. my food buddy. and my best friend. i'd like to thank her for bringing me out on so many foood ventures in singapore. i enjoyed everything thoroughly.

wild honey @ scotts square singapore

having read of this place from ladyironchef, we picked this as our brunch place. so there are 2 outlets, one in mandarin gallery and another in scotts square. according to b, a friend of mine, the outlet in scotts sq does reservations. but me n yen, just walked in. we didn't mind a bar table because we were starving. and goodie, because yen was obsessed with dining with katy perry, ahem.

yen ordered a chocolate mocha drink whereas i ordered a citrus fruit juice to kickstart my eatin fro the day. i settled for the norwegian, whereas yen ordered st michaels or something-named-like-that. i was contemplating between eggs atlantic-my usual, but settled on the norwegian. basically mine was cooked salmon, on a bed of potato rosti, with asparagus, cherry tomatoes, topped with some sauce. yen's was prosciutto, a fried poached egg, cheese souffle on french toast, and cherry tomatoes.
the cherry tomatoes were super juicy. i love them more because they were on the vine. asparagus were perfection. much better than the ones in mr and ms cafe in malaysia. i am not a fan of corriander so i felt the dish could do without it and cracked black pepper would have served as a better garnish. the salmon was well cooked. the downside of the dish was the potato rosti. it wasn't really rosti. it was shredded potato. deepfried. it was super oily, too oily for my liking. although i did finish most of it, it was because i was super hungry. and to tell that it was really bad when i'm super hungry, means it must have been real bad. 26 sgd for the dish.
y
yen had these. brioche french toast if my knowledge of bread is accurate. she liked her dish. and the fried egg, was really impressive. it was poached and fried, yet, the yolk was still perfect. neither undercook, nor overcook. i liked the cheese souffle, but yen didn't like it. so i helped her whack it. she said she didn't taste the cheese flavour, but i found it mild yet not overpowering, allowing me to finish that in addition to my own plate of brunch. she loved her dish except ther cheese souffle. she is not one of a big eater, so she didn't finish her prosciutto, but i think it wasn't because of its lack of flavour, but just that she does not eat much. 26 sgd as well.
meet my brunch date for they day. yen. although she will say her date was katy perry and not mel.

all in all, i thought it was pretty pricey for brunch. then again, i'm converting it back to myr. but maybe for sgd its pretty normal? i don't know. because antipodean here is also 20 something, so dollar for dollar it might be normal for singaporeans. i guess the next time i'm in town, i'd very much rather try other brunch places.

i must say, in addition to their menu, they had pastries, which i was really tempted to order. maybe next time for the pastries?
